Giving birth

“My name is Khatiza. I am 39 years old. I had diabetes and high pressure, but now I'm feeling much better by the grace of Almighty Allah. When I was pregnant, I had swelling and other issues, but now it's under control after taking the treatments from FH/MTI clinic.” - Khatiza (39)

Community Health Worker Hares insisted her to go to the doctor, and he also got me admitted into other clinics. Which made me feel well. But I'm worried about my child now. I think whatever happened to be passed on to my child. Now my child has a tumor-like thing in its head. Others told me to recover first and then take the child for a checkup. I got my blood tested a few days earlier and got some medicines from the doctor. The doctors didn't let me fast at the month on ROJA while I was pregnant, but then I decided to fast afterward when I felt good and energetic.

”When she was pregnant, she used to get various kinds of medicine and some injections based on the situation or when she wasn't feeling well. They took care of her very well. She even got told to admit herself to a medical center if she is 5 months pregnant, and she also used to stay there during pregnancy. If she was above 5 months or the case was severe or urgent, then they'd refer her to other clinics.” - CHW Hares

”Hares(CHW) told me that if I wasn't feeling well, I should probably test my blood for pressures and other possible diseases. Then I went to a medical through Hares and got my blood tested. There the doctor told me that I have diabetes. After 7 months, I got high pressure. Then I got admitted for diabetes and high pressure, which eventually led to swelling issues. There I stayed for 7 days and got myself medicated 3 – To 4 times daily, which made me feel well. As I didn't know my disease, I actually learned it through the doctor who tested my blood. Right now, I have neckache, and I stopped going there after 2 consecutive days as I started to feel well. I have 5 daughters and 4 sons. But the pregnancy that I had here in the medical center was much safer. The local pregnancy system may not always be a good idea as there are no experts on the pregnancy procedure, but here in a medical center, the doctors are knowledgeable about any pregnancy situation. My previous pregnancies were normal, and I had no problems at all. One of my children died in a flood accident who was 15 years old, and his name was Ali Johar. I've been to many medical centers regarding my illness and my daughters.

My daughter was admitted to a clinic, but she returned home after 4 days of treatment. My daughter Kulsuma (7) had a bellyache and a fever. So I took her to the clinic immediately and tested her blood. Then she got admitted there for 3 days. There she was constantly getting saline instead of food items, and after 3 days, the doctor told her to not eat anything until the following day, breakfast. The next day she was feeling well and was ready to eat other rice and meat. Confirming her wellbeing, I came back home with her. She is 7 years old.” - Khatiza - 39 - Rohingya Refugee
